Charyn Canyon · Kolsay Lakes · Kaindy Lake | 2-Day Private Tour from Almaty
Three of Kazakhstan's most iconic natural wonders in one unforgettable two-day journey. This tour takes you through a landscape of dramatic contrasts — ancient red-rock canyons, turquoise mountain lakes, and a ghostly submerged forest — all within reach of Almaty.
Day 1 — Charyn Canyon
An early morning departure from Almaty. After roughly 3 hours through the Kazakh steppe, you arrive at Charyn Canyon's famous Valley of Castles — a 150–300 meter deep gorge of sculpted sandstone cliffs that earned comparisons to the Grand Canyon. Spend 2–4 hours exploring the canyon floor on foot. Overnight at a guesthouse near Kolsay Lakes.
Day 2 — Kolsay Lakes & Kaindy Lake
The morning begins at the lower Kolsay Lake, nestled in a dense spruce forest at 1,800 m altitude — one of the most serene and photogenic spots in all of Kazakhstan. Then on to Kaindy Lake, where the skeletal silver trunks of submerged fir trees rise dramatically from brilliant turquoise water. Return to Almaty in the late afternoon.
